<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasion detection device, a friction material assembly, and an abrasion detection system of a friction material which can be manufactured at low cost with a simple structure, which easily and surely makes the detection state of abrasion limit visible, and which can eliminate visual and judgment errors. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A nail part 15 is integrally extended via a fragile part 16 from the body of a shim plate 13 attached to a pressure plate 12 of a pad assembly 10. A detection tag 2 attached to the pressure plate 12 is covered with the nail part 15. When the abrasion of the friction material 11 advances to the abrasion limit, the nail part 15 contacting a braked member is fractured and broken at the fragile part 16 to expose the detection tag 2. By recognizing the exposure of the detection tag 2 externally, it is possible to know easily and surely that the abrasion of the friction member 11 has reached the abrasion limit.
