A multi-core optical fiber is provided with a plurality of cores and a cladding positioned on the outer circumferences of the cores. The cladding has a marker for identifying the position of a specific core among the cores. Preferably, the marker is formed to enable identification of a specific direction around the cladding. Alternatively, the marker is preferably an empty hole formed in the cladding. Alternatively, the marker is preferably composed of a material having a refractive index different from that of the cladding. Thus, a multi-core optical fiber which can be easily connected is provided. |
