Provided is an armature for an electric motor which is energy efficient and easy to produce.  A stator (1) has a core (2) and wiring (3).  The core (2) has a plurality of slots and a plurality of teeth (T) formed between the slots.  The wiring (3) comprises a plurality of unaligned element wires (W).  The wiring has a plurality of coils (8a-8b) and connecting portions (9a.9b) which connect the coils, the connecting portions being twisted to compensate for coiling unbalance in the coils.
