Indwelling catheter i.e. intravenous indwelling catheter, for e.g. blood transfusion, has sealing valve opened during exceedance of pressure difference of specific value in distal direction and permitting fluid flow in distal direction

The catheter has a cannula (10) with distal ends for insertion into a blood vessel and a proximal end with a connection housing (12) in which a sealing valve is arranged. The sealing valve is made of an elastomer, and is designed such that the sealing valve is opened during exceedance of a small defined pressure difference of less than 5 kilopascal in a distal direction and permits a fluid flow in the distal direction. The sealing valve comprises two sealing flaps, and a steel cannula is provided between the sealing flaps in center of the sealing valve.
