PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner in which an accurate optical scanning is performed by enhancing cooling effect with an inexpensive configuration without incurring an increase in cost. SOLUTION: In the optical scanner 13 wherein a part of the body case 101 made of metallic plate on the body side of an image forming apparatus is bonded on the under face of an optical case 25 made of resin, which supports a polygon motor 27, a sealed air layer S1 is formed between the optical case 25 and the body case 101, the air layer S1 and the other sealed space S2 in the optical case 25 are communicated with a through-hole 25a, and warmed air in the sealed space S2 of the optical case 25 is introduced to the air layer S1 to be cooled.
