摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an optical module provided with an optical waveguide portion having excellent surface characteristics by reducing a positioning step between the optical waveguide portion and an optical element. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the optical module includes the steps of: preparing a substrate 2 provided with light emitting elements 4; preparing a mold 10 which has a recess 12 transmitting light and having a shape of the optical waveguide portion formed on the substrate 2, and shades portions other than the recess 12; forming a light curing resin layer 6A for forming a clad, and a light curing resin layer 8A for forming core between the substrate 2 and the mold 10; pressing the substrate 2 and the mold 10 so that the light curing resin 8A for forming core penetrate into the recess 12; hardening the light curing resin 8A for forming core and the light curing resin 6A for forming clad in the recess 12 to form an light waveguide portion by exposing from a mold 10 side; peeling the mold 10 from the substrate 2 side; and removing the light curing resins 8A, 6A for forming core and clad which remain on the substrate 2 in a state of non-hardening.
