The present invention relates to a novel initiation system for preparing a live diene elastomer functionalised at the chain end by an amino group by anionic polymerisation. The novel initiation system includes an organolithium reagent compound and a tin amide. The invention also relates to methods for preparing modified elastomers comprising an amino group at the chain end. Said modified elastomers are particularly useful in reinforced rubber compositions for tyres since they confer improved dynamic and mechanical properties on the vulcanised state.
