VERY THIN-WALLED LONG METAL TUBE, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING VERY THIN-WALLED LONG METAL TUBE, AND DEVICE USING VERY THIN-WALLED LONG METAL TUBE AS ROLL OR BELT

A method of manufacturing a very thin-walled long metal tube, the method comprising: a step in which a rectangular metal plate plastically workable is formed into a tubular shape and welded into a long metal tube; a step in which a tubular-shaped flanged metal tube blank is formed by providing, at opposite ends of the metal tube, an outwardly projecting outer flange and an inwardly projecting inner flange; a step in which the tubular-shaped flanged metal tube blank is mounted tightly on a mandrel; a spinning step in which a tensile force is applied to the tubular-shaped flanged metal tube blank and the mandrel is rotated in the axis direction to plastically deform the wall surface by spinning; a step in which two ends of the plastically deformed tubular-shaped flanged metal tube blank are cut off; and a residual stress adjusting step.  The method has a heat-treatment step performed during the spinning step.  Thus, this configuration allows for a very thin-walled long metal tube having high functionality required for a roll used in the field of optical film forming rolls for flat panel displays.
