<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a headlight for a vehicle or the like with a simple and inexpensive structure, achieving a plurality of functions by using one or a small number of light sources. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device for a headlight is provided with a first focus, a second focus 4, an oval reflector 1 having an optical axis 2 passing through these first and second focuses, a light source 3 of an LED type arranged in the vicinity of the first focus of the reflector 1 and reflecting the emitted beam toward the second focus 4, a projection lens 5 having an optical axis almost coincided with the focus arranged in the vicinity of the second focus 4 of the reflector 1 and the optical axis of the reflector 1, and a second optical element 6 arranged in the vicinity of the second focus 4 of the reflector 1 and having a tab shape which can be moved cross-wise and having a plurality of different optical zones.
