<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To require only one optical intensity modulator, and to eliminate the need of an optical amplifier. <P>SOLUTION: A device includes a clock signal generator 10, an optical pulse light source 28, a rectangular wave electrical signal generating part 40, and an optical intensity modulator 30. The clock signal generator outputs a clock signal 11 of a frequency corresponding to the maximum bit rate per channel. The optical pulse light source outputs an optical pulse train 29 of a repetition frequency equal to the frequency of the clock signal. The rectangular wave electrical signal generating part outputs a rectangular wave electrical signal 27 of a subbit rate corresponding to any frequency of divided frequencies of the clock signal. The optical intensity modulator outputs an optical pulse signal 31 of a subbit rate obtained by modulating the optical pulse train with the rectangular wave electrical signal as a bit rate variable optical pulse signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
