摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniform a mixed state of fuel and air in a cavity as much as possible, in a fuel direct-injection engine provided with a plurality of circumferentially-arranged cavity sections and having circumferentially nonuniform reverse squish flow strength. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Fuel is injected along first and second fuel injection shafts LfA, LfB to the plurality of circumferentially-separated first and second cavity sections 25A, 25B. In the first cavity section 25A having a strong reverse squish flow, a first cavity depth Dc1 and a first collision point depth Dp1 are deepened, and the first fuel reflection angle β1 of a first fuel reflecting shaft LrA is made small. Meanwhile, in the second cavity section 25B having a weak reverse squish flow, a second cavity depth Dc2 and a second collision point depth Dp2 are shallowed, and the second fuel reflection angle β2 of a second fuel reflecting shaft LrB is made large. Thereby, fuel is prevented from being boiled over from the first cavity section 25A and fuel is prevented from staying at the bottom of the second cavity section 25B.
