<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise reduction device capable of accurately reducing the noise from video signals on which low frequency noise and middle and high frequency noise are superimposed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The noise reduction device 1 includes: a low-frequency component elimination filter 10 for eliminating the low-frequency components of video signals; a median filter 20 for selecting the median of pixel values in the signals from which the low-frequency components are eliminated; a comparison means 40 for successively comparing the pixel values and the median by pixels of the video signals delayed in a delay means 30; and a selective addition/subtraction means 50 for defining the signal for which the noise level (level value) is subtracted from the pixel value as an output signal, when it is determined that the pixel value of the video signal is larger than the median, defining the signal for which the noise level (level value) is added to the pixel value as an output signal, when it is determined that the pixel value is smaller than the median, and outputting the pixel value as an output signal, when it is determined that the pixel value is equal, to the median.
