PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a stable servo pattern having high output with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The servo pattern is divided into a first pattern group and a second pattern group, the first and second patterns are alternately disposed in a magnetic head advancing direction in a servo information area, a prescribed region wherein only the first patterns are provided in an area other than the servo information area and thus the servo pattern is so constituted as to have a part where all the first patterns are disposed in the prescribed region and a part disposed in the servo information area. The whole servo patterns are once magnetized in the same direction and then the prescribed region is selectively magnetized to reverse the magnetization directions of the first pattern group and second pattern group to each other.
