<p>Disclosed is a fiber laser apparatus which can prevent a laser oscillator from being damaged if a laser beam is reflected by an object to be irradiated or at an emission end. The apparatus comprises a laser oscillator (10) which generates a laser beam of a first wavelength; a first optical filter (20) which permits the laser beam of the first wavelength to pass therethrough; a wavelength converter (30) which generates a laser beam of a second wavelength due to stimulated Raman scattering caused by the laser beam of the first wavelength and permits the laser beam of the first wavelength and the laser beam of the second wavelength to pass therethrough; a second optical filter (40) which permits the laser beam of the second wavelength and does not permit the laser beam of the first wavelength to pass therethrough; an optical fiber amplifier (50) which amplifies the laser beam of the second wavelength; and an output terminal (60) which outputs the leaser beam of the second wavelength. The first optical filter (20) does not permit the laser beam of the second wavelength to pass therethrough. The first optical filter (20), the wavelength converter (30), and the second optical filter (40) are formed of photonic bandgap fibers.</p> |
