<p>A load control device is provided with: a main switching unit for controlling the supply of power to a load, said main switching unit having one gate, to which a control voltage is applied, for each connection point, having a main switching element with a horizontal dual-gate transistor that incorporates a withstand voltage section, and being connected in series between an alternating current power source and the load; an auxiliary switching unit for controlling the supply of power to the load when the main switching unit is in a non-conductive state, said auxiliary switching unit comprising an auxiliary switching element that has a thyristor structure; a control unit for controlling the main switching unit and the auxiliary switching unit;a first power source for supplying a voltage to the control unit; a second power source for supplying the power of the first power source when the supply of power to the load is interrupted; and a third power source for supplying power to the first power source when power is being supplied to the load while the main switching unit or the auxiliary switching unit is closed. When power is being supplied to the load and the voltage input to the third power source reaches a prescribed threshold, the control unit causes the main switching unit to conduct power for a first period of time, and causes the auxiliary switching unit to conduct power for a second period of time when the main switching element is in a non-conductive state.</p> |
