<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform more sufficient cooling processing of an image forming unit than heretofore in such a state that an apparatus cost is not increased. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer belt cooling mechanism 20, which is provided in an image forming apparatus 10 and for performing cooling processing for a transfer belt 125, includes: a first fan device 40 which is disposed in the vicinity of an intermediate transfer unit 12b and blows air for cooling toward the transfer belt 125; a second fan device 50 which is disposed in a position away from the first fan device 40 and for taking external air into the inside of a right surface exterior plate 30; and a ventilation duct 60 which is formed between the first and second fan devices 40 and 50. The ventilation duct 60 has a gap formed between an apparatus body 11 and the right surface exterior plate 30.
