DEVELOPMENT DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development device where a toner density is suitably detected regardless of a difference in the deterioration amount of carriers, and a developing agent is supplied and discharged.

SOLUTION: The development device includes: a developing agent supply port 20 where a developing agent including a toner and the carrier is supplied; a developing agent storage vessel 11 including a developing agent discharge port 21 from which a deteriorated developing agent is discharged; a developing agent carrier 14 for carrying the developing agent in the developing agent storage vessel 11 so as to be stuck to an image carrier 7; a toner density detection means 19 for detecting the density of the toner in the developing agent storage vessel 11; a carrier deterioration amount detection means 6 for detecting the deterioration amount of the carriers in the developing agent storage vessel 11; and a developing agent supply amount deciding means 6 for correcting the toner density detected by the toner density detection means 19 on the basis of the deterioration amount of the carriers detected by the carrier deterioration amount detection means 6 and deciding the supply amount of the developing agent to the developing agent storage vessel 11 on the basis of the corrected toner density.
