<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system for achieving efficiency of an image processing time for printing, a printing method using the printing system, a printer and a host device. <P>SOLUTION: When any error is not caused in a printing part 203, raster data are transmitted from an RIP device 100 to a printer 200, and image-processed by the printer 200 side, and the image-processed data after halftone processing are generated and printed. On the other hand, when any error is caused in the printing part 203, image processing is continuously performed at the printer 200 side, and the image processed data are fed back to the RIP device 100, and stored in a processed data storage part 101.
