PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact universal joint capable of holding an attitude. SOLUTION: The universal joint 1 includes: a pair of first turning bolts 34, 34 turnably journaled to a first mounting bracket 10; a pair of second turning bolts 35, 35 orthogonal to the pair of first turning bolts 34, 34 and turnably journaled to a second mounting bracket 20; a pair of first braking members 36, 36 generating braking force between the pair of first turning bolts 34, 34 and the first mounting bracket 10 to regulate turning of the first mounting bracket 10 around the axis of the pair of first turning bolts 34, 34 with respect to a connecting bracket 30; and a pair of second braking members 37, 37 generating braking force between the pair of second turning bolts 35, 35 and the second mounting bracket 20 to regulate turning of the second mounting bracket 20 around the axis of the second turning bolts 35, 35 with respect to the connecting bracket 30.
