PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device easily adaptable to a change at its transmission side. SOLUTION: The power transmission device 1 includes an axle intermediate shaft 3 arranged coaxially with an axial center portion of a connection hollow shaft 39 rotatably supported on a distribution case 5, a rear wheel side output shaft 49 arranged perpendicularly to the connection hollow shaft 39, and a gear mechanism consisting of helical gears 41, 45, a ring gear 47, and a pinion gear 51 for torque transmission. An adapter 105 is detachably mounted on the distribution case 5, and a distribution case 9 is fastened and fixed via the adapter 105 to a bell housing 9 of a transmission 7.
