<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a coolant from leaking to the outside in a heat recovery apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This exhaust heat recovery apparatus 1 includes a cylindrical shell 11 interposed midway in an exhaust pipe 2 through which the exhaust gas of an engine flows, end plates 13 which are inserted from both ends of the shell 11 and close the inside of the shell 11, and a heat exchange pipe 12 which extends from the upstream end 15 to the downstream end of the shell 11 so that the end plates 13 are allowed to communicate with each other and both ends of which open to the inside of the exhaust pipe 2. Heat exchange is performed between the exhaust gas flowing in the heat exchange pipe 12 and the coolant filled in the shell 11. The shell 11, the end plates 13 and the heat exchange pipe 12 are joined integrally by brazing. All the boundaries between the shell 11 and the exhaust pipe 2 are joined to each other by welding.
