<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly restart an engine even when abnormality occurs in an idle stop function. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an idle stop control system 1, when an IG relay 15 is turned on, and a start/stop switch 3 is pressed, a start control microcomputer 35 starts the engine 2 using a starter relay drive circuit 32. Further, when an idle stop control microcomputer 36 stops the engine 2 when an idle stop is allowed, and when an idle stop recovery condition is satisfied, the idle stop control microcomputer 36 starts the engine 2 using a starter relay drive circuit 34. The idle stop control system 1 executes detection of abnormality of the idle stop control microcomputer 36 and the starter relay drive circuit 34 within a period from when the idle stop control microcomputer 36 stops the engine 2 until the engine 2 is started.
