<p>The manufacture yields of an optical modulator and an optical device, which include a polarized wave synthesizing means, are improved, and the dimensions of the optical modulator and the optical device are reduced. An optical modulator (1) is provided with: first and second optical modulators (LN optical modulators (101-104)) formed on a substrate; a polarized wave rotating section (107) which rotates the polarized waves of at least light modulated by the first optical modulator or the polarized waves of light modulated by the second optical modulator; and a polarized wave synthesizing element (110) which is provided on the external section of the substrate and synthesizes the polarized waves of the modulated light wherein the polarized waves have been rotated by the polarized wave rotating section (107).</p> |
