PURPOSE: An electric water pump for a vehicle is provided to prevent damage to a bearing be effectively discharging cooling water and prevent the leakage of cooling water. CONSTITUTION: An electric water pump for a vehicle comprises a body volute(25), a shaft(13), a motor(23), an impeller(19), a water seal(15), and a groove(12). The body volute comprises a drain hole(11) for discharge of cooling water. The shaft is installed in the body volute with a bearing(17) interposed. The motor is connected the rear end of the shaft to provide a driving force. The impeller is connected to the front end of the shaft. The water seal is provided on the rear end of the impeller. The groove of certain depth is formed along the outer circumference of the body volute. The drain hole with an end located between the water seal and the bearing is connected to the groove, and a sponge band(10) is inserted in the groove.
