MAGNETIC READ HEAD

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CPP (Current Perpendicular to Plane) magnetic read head having a high MR ratio and low magnetostriction.

SOLUTION: The read head is the CPP read head wherein a sense current flows in a layered direction (in a direction perpendicular to film surfaces) of a magnetoresistive sensor film. The CPP magnetic head is characterized in a free layer structure in the magnetoresistive sensor film. A free layer is constituted of a plurality of layered layers and has a Heusler alloy layer and a Co based amorphous metal layer. The CPP magnetic read head capable of obtaining low magnetostriction and the high MR ratio and having excellent noise characteristics can be attained by employing the free layer structure.
