PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for application reinstallation by a user at the next start while protecting original data of an OS. SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes a storage means for having a plurality of storage areas 31 including a first storage area storing an operating system; a writing inhibition means 32 for inhibiting writing to the first storage area and allowing writing to a second storage area when writing to the first storage area is requested; a first evacuation means 34 for saving the application information written to the second storage area by means of the writing inhibition means 32 in a third storage area; a monitor means 33 for monitoring a storage means in which setting information of an application has been stored; a second evacuation means 35 for saving the setting information in the third storage area when it is determined that the setting information has been added and/or corrected by the monitor means; and a recovery means 36 for restoring the saved application information and the setting information into the second storage means when the information processing apparatus is started at the next time.
