PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device improving accuracy in determining fuel properties. SOLUTION: Hydraulic oil is directly supplied from an oil pump driven by an engine to an input clutch between the engine and a continuously variable transmission. Thereby, when the engine is stopped, the input clutch is disengaged, and when the engine is operated, the input clutch is engaged. When start-up of the engine is started, the operation state of the input clutch is determined. When the input clutch is in a disengaged state or an engaged state, an integrated value of the number of ignition and an integrated value of engine speed are calculated, and when the input clutch in a slipping state, the calculation of the integrated value of the number of ignition and the integrated value of the engine speed is interrupted. Further, when the integrated value of the number of ignition exceeds a determination reference value A, and the integrated value of the engine speed exceeds a determination reference value B, fuel is determined to be a light fuel, and when the integrated value of the engine speed is less than the determination reference value B, the fuel is determined to be a heavy fuel.
