<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control apparatus for a diesel engine utilizing operation by premixed combustion to the maximum and improving performance in exhaust gas emission while suppressing the occurrence of smoke by appropriately restricting a fuel injection timing according to the operation state of the engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a premixed combustion mode, when a fuel mixing period is longer than an advance angle side threshold value or a retard angle side threshold value, a control value is applied to feedback control to restrict the fuel injection timing to calculate a command injection timing (S5, S8).
