<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire which can prevent an increase of a temperature of a high-intensity discharge lamp by a light shielding member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Heat dissipating structures 44, 45 are arranged on the light shielding member 40 for absorbing and shielding light emitted from the high-intensity discharge lamp 32. Thus, residence heat of fragment scattering preventing mechanism 321 and its periphery of the high-intensity discharge lamp 32 can be effectively dissipated, and the increase of the temperature of the high-intensity discharge lamp 32 is prevented by the light shielding member 40 so as to maintain a suitable state of the high-intensity discharge lamp 32.
