In a crate having a rectangular bottom frame 6a used to locate the crate in the mouth of one on which it is superimposed, the bottom 6 can move vertically between two stop positions, in the upper of which the under surface of the frame lies above or in the same plane as the lower edges of the walls. A metal strip having a vertical flange 4 and horizontal flange 5 forms the lower portion of the walls. When stacked, the bottom 6 of the upper crate rests against the flange 5 ; in the lowermost crate, resting on a flat surface, the bottom 6 is raised so that the under surface of the frame 6a lies in the plane of the flange 6. |
