Provided is a light emitting diode module, which has improved luminance and light collecting efficiency as a whole even the size of each light emitting diode element is reduced, and can be driven with a high voltage by connecting a plurality of the light emitting diode elements. In the light emitting diode module, the light emitting diode elements, each of which has a built-in side reflecting section that reflects, in the light collecting direction perpendicular to the light emitting layer, light which has been outputted in the side surface direction of a light emitting layer, are arranged, and the light emitting elements are connected in series. The light emitting diode module is formed on one substrate. Among light which has been outputted from an active layer in the light emitting layer, light which has been outputted in the light collecting direction is outputted in the light collecting direction through a transparent substrate without change, light which has been outputted in the direction opposite to the light collecting direction is reflected in the light collecting direction by a rear surface reflecting film, and light which has been outputted in the direction along the active layer is reflected by the side reflecting section and is collected in the substantially light collecting direction. The light emitting diode elements are electrically separated from each other, and are connected by means of a light source wiring layer. |
