Provided is an economically rational chabazite-type zeolite which is expected to exert practical characteristics for use as a carrier for catalysts or a support for adsorbents and to exhibit high durability and heat resistance. A chabazite-type zeolite which has an SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 15 to 50 and a mean particle diameter of 1.5µm or larger exhibits high durability and heat resistance. Such a chabazite-type zeolite can be produced by subjecting a raw material composition having molar ratios of a structure-directing agent and water to SiO2 which satisfy respectively the relationships: 0.05 = structure-directing agent/SiO2 2O/SiO2 < 30 to crystallization in the presence of ions of at least one kind of alkali metal selected from a group consisting of K, Rb, and Cs. It is preferable that the structure-directing agent is an N,N,N-trimethyladamantylammonium salt. |
