880,024. Cartons. MOORE, G. A. June 11, 1958 [June 11, 1957], No. 18607/58. Class 18. A liquid tight container with a sterile lining of a synthetic plastic has a sanitary dispensing end Icosure. The container is formed of two blanks 4, 5, Fig. 1, of paperboard, cardboard, foil, or a synthetic plastic or a a lamination of aluminium and paper or paper and a synthetic plastic. The blank has a hole 22 plugged by an embossed portion 46, Fig. 9, of the panel 4. The raw cut edges are sealed by the lining of plastic and a cover of plastic encloses the small end. The blanks are secured over the area of the small end except for the portion between lines 14. Finger tabs 13 facilitate access to the opening 22. The tabs 13 also cause removal of the plastic cover enclosing the small end. The container is formed by a plunger 27 moved into a corresponding die 32 having heating rods 34 which cause sealing of thermo-plastic material on flaps 11. Platen heads 29, 36 deform the portion 46, Fig. 9, to form the plug for the hole 22. The plunger 27 has holes 31 to which a vacuum is applied to draw the blanks against the sides of the die. Symbols may be embossed on the small end. If the container is of fibrous material the walls may be impregnated with a coating material or a coating may be sprayed on after the container is made. |
