<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save electric power and to prolong life of a display device by suitably controlling the brightness of a back light of the display device. <P>SOLUTION: A brightness change unit 15 changes the brightness of the back light of the display device 20 according to display information that a display unit 14 makes the display device 20 display. Further, the brightness change unit 15 changes the brightness of the back light according to readability of characters of the display information.
