PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately and readily prevent encounter with railway vehicles. SOLUTION: The vehicle driving support device 10 includes: a communication unit 11 which receives railway operation information transmitted from a base station; a map data storage 32 which stores map data; an own vehicle location detecting unit 33 which detects a location of own vehicle on the map data; a determining unit for determining existence of a railroad crossing 34, which determines existence of a railroad crossing forward in the driving direction, based on the map data and the location of own vehicle; a train passage determining unit 35 which, if there is a railroad crossing, calculates the required time for own vehicle to reach the railroad crossing, calculates the required time for a train to reach the railroad crossing based on the railway operation information, and determines whether the own vehicle reaches the railroad crossing when the train passes through the railroad crossing; and a recommended speed calculating unit 36 which, if it is determined that own vehicle will reach the railroad crossing, when the train passes through the railroad crossing, calculates a recommended speed for own vehicle to reach the railroad crossing, prior to or after the train passing through the railroad crossing.
