PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for forming an opening slit in which a packaged state has improved convenience characteristic when opened, and a modification in setting a bag opening slit can be easily performed. SOLUTION: A slit forming means 12 in a device for forming the opening slit at a packaging machine for sealing laterally a cylindrical film having overlapped portions got by overlapping both right and left end edges extending in a longitudinal direction of a belt-shaped film above in a face-to-face relation to attain a pillow-packaged object includes holding members 23 for holding overlapped portions from right and left sides in a predetermined zone in a film transferring direction during a transferring process to the lateral sealing means, a cutter 19 cutting through the upper part of the cylindrical film to form a slit at a position near one of the right and left sides of the overlapped portions held by the holding member 23 when the cylindrical film is transferred continuously and a servomotor 20 operated to lift up or down the cutter 19 for every timing.
