PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of FFS (Fringe Field Switching) mode which makes a film-forming structure, which is formed on a substrate, simple, and is manufactured at a lower cost than a conventional one, while it has moisture resistance equivalent to that of a conventional one, and hardly causes a burn-in phenomenon; and to provide a method for manufacturing the device concerned. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 includes no passivation film, and the channel area CR of a TFT is directly covered with an interlayer resin film 14. A common electrode 17; a second insulating film 18 formed on the whole surface of the interlayer resin film 14 including the common electrode 17; and pixel electrodes 21 which are formed on the second insulating film 18 and in which a plurality of slits 20 are formed for each area partitioned by scanning lines 12 and signal lines; are formed on the surface of the interlayer resin film 14.
