PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-sided printing thermal printer which is inexpensive by simplifying the mechanism of the double-sided printing thermal printer, without requiring a transmission means for transmitting the drive of a motor provided on a housing body side to a cover side. SOLUTION: The double-sided printing thermal printer 1 includes: a first printing part for performing printing on the first surface of a medium to be printed 2, while nipping and conveying it by a first platen roller 3 and a first thermal head 4; and a second printing part for performing printing on the second surface of the medium to be printed 2, while nipping and conveying it by a second platen roller 5 and a second thermal head 6. Further, the double-sided printing thermal printer includes: a housing body 9 whose upper part is opened; and a cover 11 openably and closably covering the upper part of the housing body 9. The first platen roller 3 and the second platen roller 5 are assembled in the housing body 9 and the first thermal head 4 and the second thermal head 6 are assembled in the cover 11.
