829,935. Grinding screw-threads ; trueing grinding wheels. LINDNER G.m.b.H., H. June 6, 1958 [Sept. 14, 1957], No. 18236/58. Class 60. A feed adjustment device for a thread grinding machine having a trueing device 7, such as a diamond or roller, arranged behind a grinding disc 1, comprises a feed adjustment wheel 9 furnished with two rings 11, 12 graduated in opposite directions, each ring having a stop member 13, 14 and being capable of being displaced and secured in position on the feed adjustment wheel independently of the other to enable the stop members to permit a predetermined amount of rotation of the wheel in one direction to feed the grinding disc into the trueing device and in the opposite direction to feed the grinding disc into a workpiece 5. The grinding disc is driven from an electric motor and carried on a slide 2 having a depending member engaging a screw 8 on which the feed adjustment wheel 9 is keyed. The rings 11, 12 are independently clampable to the wheel by operation of screws 15, 16 which have conical surfaces engaging rods 20, 21 disposed perpendicularly to the screws and axially movable into engagement with the inner surfaces of the rings. The stop members 13, 14 are carried at the zero readings on the rings and engage projections 23, 24 on a lever 25 which is rockable in one direction or the other to alternatively bring one or other of the projections into operative position and releasably-retained in a central position by a spring-pressed bolt 27. The rings 11, 12 and screw 15, 16 may be differently coloured or otherwise marked for ease of identification.
