PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem: when an original image signal having a poor S/N ratio is separated, sufficient noise reduction effects cannot be obtained. SOLUTION: This image processing method includes the steps of separating an original image signal into a plurality of component images (S20), and extracting a region of interest from a component image including noise, among the plurality of component images (S40). The method further includes the steps of extracting an arbitrary image region from the component image including noise (S60), and calculating the degree of the similarity between an image region on an original image signal corresponding to the extracted image region and an image region on the original image signal corresponding to the region of interest (S70).
