<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system which can improve energy saving of the lighting electrical power of the whole interior. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The illumination system 1 includes: an illumination apparatus 2 arranged on a ceiling plane 51; a task light 3 for irradiating lighting light at the predetermined irradiation range of the top surface of a desk 8; a human detection sensor 4 for detecting the presence or absence of a human within a range corresponding to the irradiation range; and a center apparatus 5 as a control part which can convey a control signal for light control to the illumination apparatus 2 and the task light 3, and exerts light control to the illumination apparatus 2 and the task light 3 based on the detection result of the human detection sensor 4.
