PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute heavy-load processing of stream-type packet data such as audio or video without adding any new equipment in a system including a device for handling a plurality of media data such as audio or image data. SOLUTION: A gateway that configures a telephone system or a data system, has an address conversion request means which requests a conversion process for an address of a stream-type packet data such as audio or video data which pertains to this same gateway, and a distributed processing function which notifies, when there is a reply from the other terminal from which the address conversion request means has requested the address conversion process, to the effect that execution of the requested process is possible, the terminal which has transmitted the stream-type packet data of the address of the other terminal which executes the address conversion process.
