PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element in which a change in an interval between substrates is reduced against external force applied to the liquid crystal display element and to provide a manufacturing method of the liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: Columnar spacers 109 formed at a height lower than a gap between a TFT substrate 101 and a counter substrate 102 and granular spacers 108 each of which is buried in each columnar spacer 109 and has a diameter larger than the height of the columnar spacer 109 to specify the layer thickness of liquid crystal sealed between the TFT substrate 101 and the counter substrate 102 are arranged between both the substrates 101, 102.
