PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting unit of a bookbinding apparatus removing coating matter attached to a cut face of a coating sheet in a bookbinding process of the coating sheet. SOLUTION: The bookbinding apparatus (105) is provided with a sheet aligning plate (21) aligning the end face of a sheet bundle (20) transferred from a sheet aligning device, a gripper (22) fixing the sheet bundle aligned on a sheet bundle aligning plate, a tape feed unit (15) binding the sheet bundle by feeding an adhesive member onto the end face of the sheet bundle, a tape heating unit (25), and the cutting unit (40) cutting the end face of the sheet bundle before binding the sheet bundle using the tape feed unit and tape heating unit.
