Mouth- and tooth care-cleansing agent comprises 0.001-10 wt.% of taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) and 0.001-5 wt.% of at least an antibacterial compound. Independent claims are included for preventing and treating caries, controlling halitosis and/or treating gingivitis or periodontitis comprising either applying the mouth- and tooth care-cleansing agent on toothbrush and brushing the teeth with the cleansing agent or bringing the mouth- and tooth care-cleansing agent in the form of mouthwash in the oral cavity and leaving for a period of at least 10 seconds, preferably 45 seconds. ACTIVITY : Antibacterial; Antiinflammatory. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
