PURPOSE: An apparatus for delaying discharge of a battery and a method thereof are provided to maximizing the discharge time of battery by converting a controller into a stop mode blocking power source. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for delaying discharge of a battery comprises a remote controller terminal(30), a controller(10), a plurality of electronic units(20), and a boarding sensor unit(40). The remote controller terminal transmits a remote control signal and long-term parking signal of the electronic unit. A plurality of electronic units is driven by the power source of a battery(50). The remote control signal receiving unit of the electronic unit receives the remote control signal and long-term parking signal from the remote controller terminal. The boarding sensor unit detects get-on/off state of passengers, and outputs get-on/off signal. If the long-term parking signal is inputted, the controller converts a sleep mode into a stop mode.
