<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve position accuracy in an image transferred to recording paper by preventing stopping of normal meandering control and to prevent damage to an intermediate transfer belt. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 is provided with a contact 202 which is abutted to an end section in the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt 8 and is displaced according to the position in the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt 8 and a displacement sensor 403 for detecting the position of the contact 202 and the position in the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt 8 is controlled on the basis of the detection result by the displacement sensor 403. Furthermore, the intermediate transfer belt 8 is moved in the width direction and also in the direction separating from the contact 202 in response to having the intermediate transfer belt 8 exchanged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
