PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guard fence with high protective performance. SOLUTION: A plurality of existing supports 3 are erected on a concrete foundation 2, net bodies 5 at the other side of a mountain are provided in a tensed state among the existing supports 3, respectively, and a plurality of main supports 11 higher than the existing supports 3 are erected on the concrete foundation 2, and the main supports 11 have mountain-side net bodies 14. The mountain-side net body 14 is provided by means of the main supports 11 at the mountain side of the existing support 3 and the net body 5 so as to improve performance against an avalanche, a rock fall, etc. Thus, a protective fence excellent in the protective performance is obtained without a reference to new construction or the repair work of the existing guard fence. Additionally, the mountain-side net body 14 is obliquely provided at a space from the net body 5, so that an impact generated by a falling rock can be absorbed by the mountain-side net body and an impact force applied to the existing guard fence can be reduced.
