PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet holder carrying out accurate transfer molding to a thermoplastic resin sheet material cut into a predetermined size, and to provide a method of setting a sheet for the sheet holder, and a hot press apparatus. SOLUTION: The sheet holder comprises an upper frame member 20 and a lower frame member 30 having holding spaces 25, 35 for the thermoplastic resin sheet material S inside. The upper frame member 20 and the lower frame member 30 are attachable and separable at the respective joint faces 21, 31. The respective joint faces 21, 31 on the outside of the holding spaces 25, 35 of the upper frame member 20 and lower frame member 30 have holding parts 22, 32 for holding a portion excluding a molding face of the thermoplastic resin sheet material S, and positioning parts 26, 36 for disposing the attached upper frame member 20 and lower frame member 30 at a hot press apparatus are formed outside the holding spaces 25, 35 excluding the holding parts 22, 32.
