PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which controls to attain a color temperature and brightness that had been set previously, regardless of the change in the light amount of a light source. SOLUTION: A display device 1 includes a light modulating unit 10 configured to modulate light based on a video signal, a light source 20 configured to supply light to the light modulating unit 10, a detecting unit 30 configured to detect a light amount of the light source 20, and a control unit 40 configured to control for correcting the video signal based on the light amount detected by the detection unit 30 so as to attain a color temperature and brightness that had been set previously. For example, a cold cathode tube (CCFL) is used as the light source 20. A means for modulating light by, for example, a liquid crystal is used as the light modulation part 10.
